SP chief Muyalam Singh Yadav and younger brother Shivpal, also the party’s UP chief, stood firmly on one side, while chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his supporters sloganeered and sang songs on the other. He is said to be wary of an alliance till Mulayam Singh puts his house in order. In Bihar, Nitish Kumar could beat the BJP and return as chief minister last year thanks to a grand alliance.Even as the stage heaved under the collective might of the Janata Parivar — Lalu Prasad Yadav, Janata Dal-United’s Sharad Yadav, H. (Photo: PTI) Familial infighting in the Samajwadi Party took centrestage at the party’s grand silver jubilee celebrations organised in Lucknow to which all the patriarchs of the Janata Parivar had been invited and were in happy attendance.
Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav played peacemaker and tried to bring Akhilesh and Shivpal together, at least on stage. Mulayam Singh Yadav had walked out of that alliance in what was seen as a terrible misfire. Don’t make me chief minister, insult me if you will, I know I have done good work How many times will you humiliate me You removed me twice but I have also struggled,” he said.Mulayam Singh hopes to stitch together a Mahagathbandhan to challenge the BJP and arch rival Mayawati’s BSP. Shivpal Yadav, followed by Akhilesh Yadav, took pot shots at each other in their speeches delivered to large gathering — no less than four football fields in size — of SP supporters. He held and raised their hands together in a show of unity, and also made Akhilesh touch his uncle Shivpal and father Mulayam’s feet on the dais.. I will tolerate my humiliation but not the humiliation of Netaji,” he said, and added that he was not an asp***t for the chief minister’s post.Senior SP leader Mohd Azam Khan, Amar Singh and Jaya Bachchan were conspicuous by their absence and another SP leader, Javed Abdi, was pushed off the stage when he grabbed the mike and started singing paeans to the chief minister. Both had been gifted swords at the beginning of the even which they accepted and brandished smilingly through the event. Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav asked Mr Shivpal Yadav to remove the SP leader. In his speech Mr Akhilesh Yadav returned the fire when he said, “You have given me a sword but I am not allowed to use it. But the family feud, in which he has consistently back his brother, threatens to trip those plans. You can sack me, China Wholesale lopping shears Factory humiliate me and (yet) I will work for the party till the last drop of my blood.“Ask for blood, I shall give blood. It seemed less a truce and more a gesture of politeness in the presence of senior political leaders. “Some intruders have entered (in the party) and are creating atmosphere (of differences).. Today, I can say that some people will listen to me but only after things go awry in the Samajwadi Party. We may fight between ourselves but no one fights with us and the BJP should know this”.D. Akhilesh carried a sword in one hand while he touched his uncle’s feet with the other, and Shivpal too held a sword in one hand as he blessed the chief minister with the other.Bihar chief Minister Nitish Kumar made his excuses saying he had a previous engagement at home and stayed away. Dr (Ram Manohar) Lohia said that the world will listen to me but only after I am gone. But the symbolism was powerful.Mr Lalu Prasad Yadav, in his speech, said, “I have brought Shivpal and Akhilesh together to show that there is no difference in the family.Familial infighting in the Samajwadi Party took centrestage at the party’s grand silver jubilee celebrations organised in Lucknow to which all the patriarchs of the Janata Parivar had been invited and UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav during the party’s 25th Foundation Day celebrations in Lucknow. I am ready to make more sacrifices. I have made a lot of sacrifice for the party under the guidance of Netaji (Mulayam). Deve Gowda, former Prime Minister who heads the Janata Dal (Secular), RLD chief Ajit Singh and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Chautala — the show of unusual bonhomie evaporated as soon as they took to the mike. The Saturday event, meant to serve as a symbolic show of strength ahead of talks to explore a Bihar-style grand alliance for the forthcoming Assembly polls, however showcased a ruling party deeply divided and split between two camps. I do not want to reply to certain things but I am ready to take any test for the party”. If Mr Modi cannot control Kashmir, how can he run the country ”Even as thousands of Samajwadi Party workers danced to the song Yeh janta hai Akhilesh ke saath (People are with Akhilesh Yadav) sung by a folk singer, senior members of the Janata Parivar vowed to defeat the BJP under the leadership of Mulayam Singh Yadav while endorsing Mr Akhilesh Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate..An emotional Mr Shivpal Yadav, a minister in the state government who has been sacked twice by the UP chief minister, while lauding the chief minister for the excellent work done under his leadership, said that some people inherit power without doing anything while others get nothing despite making sacrifices.Terming the BJP as a “ranga siyar” (painted jackal), he said, “Under the leadership of Mulayam Singh Yadav, we will defeat BJP in UP just as we did in Bihar. ادامه مطلب

If the ceasefire holds, it would provide a desperate people essential food and medical supplies. Except for Tunisia, where it all began, no other Arab country swept by revolutionary rhetoric and action has been able to weather the storm, except to revert to the traditional rule of autocrats. The US presidential campaign and the approaching end of the Obama presidency would seem to rule out radical steps by Washington at this stage. The other outside powers have their own fish to fry. Even the Syrian Opposition is deeply divided, either gyrating to the winds of its various sponsors or living for the moment. The longer the ferment continues, the situation is likely to get more complicated. The world will hope that although peace seems to be a long way away, a beginning can be made in bringing the country back to civilisation. The High Negotiating Committee (HNC), an umbrella group supported by the West and Gulf states, unveiled its own peace plan but welcomed the ceasefire. But there is a new wind blowing in Riyadh on the coming to power of the new King and his confidant. The developed world is on a short fuse in view of the rash of terrorist incidents claimed on behalf of Islamic State. The other Opposition group was more sceptical, doubting Moscow’s ability to force President Assad to stop the war.In the region, the scenario is dependent upon the rivalry between Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states against *** and its Hezbollah allies overlaid by the Shia-Sunni schism.Given the Syrian situation, scepticism is in order but a few takeaways from the deal are clear. Egypt’s record of one year of Muslim Brotherhood rule was a failure because it did not know how to rule and highlighted its own ideology in preference to governance. The United States has its limitations due to its aversion to re-entering the Middle East except though an air war after the Iraq fiasco.Syria is a warning light indicating more troubling times for the Arab world as dictatorship cannot provide an answer to sociological and economic problems. There also seems to be the beginning of a process of recognition that the fortune the kingdom spends on spreading Wahhabi Islam around the world is becoming counter-productive. It is a diplomatic victory for Russia as Moscow had militarily intervened on President Assad’s side to assert its wider regional and world interests, and the deal came about with Washington treating Moscow as an equal partner. The United States-Russia agreement five years into the bloody Syrian civil war on a week-long ceasefire starting Monday evening as Id celebrations begin is a small ray of light in an otherwise bleak o The United States-Russia agreement five years into the bloody Syrian civil war on a week-long ceasefire starting Monday evening as Id celebrations begin is a small ray of light in an otherwise bleak outlook. Russia is only too willing to curtail its role, given its economic circumstances, as long as its role in the Middle East and the world is recognised. The dilemma for the United States was that it supported Syrian Kurds through air support as they represented the best ground fighting force. There is at least some thought being given to the long-term economic future of the Saudi kingdom, relying overwelmingly on oil revenue.Keeping the pot simmering in the Middle East is no longer the answer to everyone’s prayers. Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has his own Kurds (grouped under PKK), having abandoned a truce in favour of suppressing them. Saudi Arabia seems unsuitable to fill the vacuum that will grow as the process of American withdrawal from the Middle East proceeds apace. It is presenting a bulwark largely against Islamic China heavy duty lopper Manufacturers State. As if to mock the ceasefire, Syrian and allied warplanes killed score of civilians in Idlib and Alleppo. There lies the rub, as Mr Assad has consistently refused to step aside and the Russians would have to agree to such a proposal. But the stakes for the main protagonists is high, and the next important steps will be determined by how far the new truce fares, apart from providing much needed succour to the unfortunate people of Syria. Faced with a dilemma, Washington sided with Turkey while Syrian Kurds felt they had again been shortchanged, having lost out to other powers building on the ruins of the Ottoman Empire. And the other actors, *** and the Hezbollah guerrillas, are on the same side as Moscow. One consequence has been the rise of the right wing in German politics for the first time since 1945.India has displayed some faint interest in Syria by sending its junior foreign minister to Damascus. It would govern the country for 18 months and President Assad should step aside as soon as it was formed. As if the cup of misery were not full enough, Turkey intervened militarily for the first time, though its main aim was not the Islamic State but Syrian Kurds who were exploiting Damascus’ weakness to form self-governing enclaves. For one thing, the ceasefire needs to hold although Moscow has assured Washington it has President Bashar al-Assad’s assent..Five years of war have destroyed Syrian cities, left hundreds of thousands dead and half its population either domestically displaced or seeking shelter in different parts of the world.Under the plan put forward by the High Negotiating Committee, meeting under the aegis of the British foreign office, a six-month negotiating period has been offered. Without a reassessment of the West’s relations with Russia, the ceasefire deal with Moscow would not have been possible. The next step must revert to the Geneva conference table in an attempt to separate the various strands that go to make up the Syrian imbroglio.Indeed, future generations will wonder how an enlightened age could tolerate years of mass murder while safeguarding their selfish interests. Syria gives it a window on the Mediterranean and a world presence. There are no short-term measures that can immediately relieve the tensions. The Arab Spring perhaps came too early or too late. ادامه مطلب

But what’s to be said when India — on account of the maladroit actions of its government — ends up creating an unstable and volatile situation in Kashmir, playing right into Islamabad’s hands The recent Valley-wide violence in Kashmir erupted after the security forces killed a young commander of the pro-Pakistan terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen, Burhan Wani, who had gained Valley-wide popularity through the clever use of social media, a propaganda tool used to great effect by jihadi outfits worldwide, particularly the Islamic State and Al Qaeda. Narasimha Rao.A lot of hope had been invested in the PDP-BJP government by the people of Kashmir but these were dashed to the ground by the constant communal needling that the BJP has engaged in since coming into government in the state, instead of seeking to build political capital for itself in the Muslim-majority Valley in the way that Atal Behari Vajpayee did as Prime Minister. This is an artificial narrative. Ms Mufti and her party became worried onlookers, as disgust with the BJP began to take hold amongst the populace, and with her for allying with the BJP. Besides doing little on the development front, the government failed on the political and security front.)Beef politics was kept alive for weeks. The mood among the people had turned grim and sullen long before the Burhan Wani killing, which as an event acted as a catalyst — no more.Massive floods had ravaged Kashmir, particularly the ancient and throbbing city of Srinagar and all of South Kashmir, in September 2014, months before the election that brought the PDP-BJP coalition. It is an entirely self-serving and inaccurate projection to conceal how matters have shaped in Kashmir since the PDP-BJP government came into being in March 2015. When Pakistan tries to keep the pot boiling in Kashmir, its malicious intent must be countered with vigour. Islamabad began to meddle through propaganda interventions, and fish in troubled waters in other ways, after the lapse of a few days — not right away.If the causes of alienation that has built up in recent times are not addressed, and strong-arm methods continue to be used against the populace as a whole, instead of taking the bull by the horns and getting down to serious political engagement, we cannot get the tactics right to deal with the situation. While misguiding the country, the Centre and the state government are refusing to see that what’s confronting us is a pervasive mood of popular dissatisfaction in Kashmir that is akin to the rumblings of an incipient insurgency. Then the pseudo-politics of nationalism came to be played out in J&K, taking off from developments in JNU in the course of which Union home minister Rajnath Singh made an assertion that was shown to be false, that the involvement of a Kashmiri young man at a JNU protest action was inspired by Pakistan’s Lashkar-e-Tayyaba mentor Hafiz Sayed. All hell broke loose. In this period, the shouting of pro-Pakistan slogans by some Kashmiri boys at the Regional Engineering College in Srinagar came to the fore. The event was converted into a Hindu-Muslim issue. (This is exactly the way of thinking that brought about Pakistan..The BJP’s political campaigns in the state took care to focus attention on themes that were aimed to show that the so-called Hindu interests would be highlighted. The Pakistani infiltration this year is reportedly 200 per cent higher than in 2014, and there has been no move from the Centre to take the Valley people into a fold of constructive politics — a trend continuing since the time of Prime Minister P. When a misguided “beef party” was held by a Valley MLA, Engineer Rashid, to get even with the BJP for its high-decibel cow politics in the rest of the country, the saffron party’s state bosses saw red. It is also an artifice to camouflage the communal agenda unleashed in the Valley whose bitter fruit the country is now harvesting. An important consideration for the PDP going with the BJP was the expectation that financial assistance for flood relief would flow if the regional party was aligned with the Centre. On this basis the BJP, which runs the Centre and is in a coalition government with Mehbooba Mufti’s People’s Democratic Party in Kashmir, is trying to project itself as a political force that is alive to its nationalist responsibility.Looking at the facts, it is evident that the initial violence after Wani’s killing was spontaneous, a sui generis development. No one told them that the episode involving the independent MLA was a bait and that the Kashmiri Muslim wasn’t even a beef-eater traditionally. This began to get translated into an anti-India sentiment which was sought to be fanned by the separatist quarters. When Pakistan tries to keep the pot boiling in Kashmir, its malicious intent must be countered with vigour. It is an unsatiated state that is trying to grab the territory, using the bogus argument that it has a proprietary right over a Muslim-majority area. It has exchanged hostile words with Pakistan and has stuck to the narrative that the violent unrest Wholesale stainless steel coolers Factory seen in the Valley since Wani’s death on July 8 was the handiwork of Pakistan and its proxies.Besides corrupting and polluting the political atmosphere, developments such as these harmed not just the Centre’s but India’s reputation in the Valley, where only a small section of opinion is deemed to be pro-Pakistan. A perverse reading was sought to be imposed that defending the perceived Hindu interests in J&K automatically meant defending the country’s interests — in fact, playing on the subliminal thought among many that Hindus and Muslims have separate interests. The Kashmir police was substituted on the campus by the Central Reserve Police Force, as if the latter was a force that reflected “Hindu India”. But a less than paltry Rs 2,000 crores has been allotted so far to mitigate flood-related damage, when the need was for around Rs 100,000 crores. It appeared that since the BJP had won all its seats from Hindu-dominated Jammu, the party was trying to pander to the “Hindu vote” in Jammu. It is dangerous that Kashmir has been left adrift at a time when China and Pakistan have been holding joint patrols in the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) area. All meaningful work was neglected while politics around an explicit communal agenda dominated the landscape. ادامه مطلب

But a new study has found how different subtypes of narcissism are affected by it. Grandiose narcissism is the kind which springs to mind when one imagines a typical narcissist. They need smaller ego boosts but often need them at a higher frequency than grandiose narcissists. The study found that people in the vulnerable subtype are avid users of social media and will post online much more frequently than a grandiose narcissist. They’re characterised by a need for admiration, high self-esteem, direct expression of exhibitionism, and arrogance. It’s not that grandiose narcissists are super confident and invulnerable to criticism but their response will be more aggressive and will reject the criticism as incorrect. The two subtypes which emerged from this study were “vulnerable” narcissism and “grandiose” narcissism. The participants completed surveys which asked them how they viewed themselves, and how often they posted on social media.jpg If you post to social media and take selfies for self-assurance, you’re what a new psychological study has called a “vulnerable narcissist”. They also find social interactions daunting. If you post to social media and take selfies for self-assurance, you’re what a new psychological study has called a “vulnerable narcissist”. The never ending pot of likes, shares and positives comments makes social media well suited to their subtype of narcissism — it allows them to create a carefully constructed version of their image, and use it as a filter for interactions. In a study published in Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking, researchers looked at 540 students from across Europe. The aim of the study was to find out what type of people are at a higher risk of social networking addiction. NARCISSIST.
